The 2025 Poultry Registration runs from January 1, 2025 through March 31, 2025.
The 2025 Poultry Feeding Operation registration is now an online only program; growers will no longer go to the Conservation District office to pay their fee.
The Arkansas Department of Agriculture has posted a link on their website for growers to register their operations on line.
Poultry Feeding Operations Registration - Arkansas Department of Agriculture
Growers will need to create an account the 1st time they register. The purpose of this is to eliminate the mundane process of information collection and prevent the replication of data each year. When they create their account, they will provide all the information they have in the past. The following years will only require logging in and entering litter use and bird information; basically, information that changes from year to year. However, they will have the opportunity to go back in and change any previous information, like number of acres, phone numbers, of if they have changed companies or added houses; they can’t change any of the litter use data once they enter it in.
Under Arkansas law, persons in the state of Arkansas who own or operate Poultry Feeding Operations where 2,500 or more Poultry are housed or confined on any given day will be required to register annually with the Commission and pay a $10.00 fee for each operation. Failure to do so will result penalties:

Nutrient Management plans are done every 5 years
Water Quality Tech, John Stirling writes Nutrient Management Plans with follow-ups as needed. Soil samples are taken from landowner’s property and the results are used to recommend changes in applying litter or other fertilize. This gives producers guidance on placing the correct amount of nutrients on their land in accordance with their soil sample analysis. With an increasing number of registered poultry farms in addition to the cattle farmers needing nutrient guidance, the WQT’s work is vital to Sharp County. WQT also assists the NRCS District Conservationist in updating and writing other plans as needed.
Also each new NMP requires a litter sample. Collect a quart ziplock bag of litter and take to the cooperative extension office to be sent off for analysis. There is a $35-$40 fee associated with the test. This is only done once every 5 years when renewing your NMP.

The Arkansas Legislature voted to exempt sales taxes on utilities for structures used for agriculture purposes. The meters must be certified through the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration. The forms needed for certification are available on the Arkansas Farm Bureau website or you can contact one of their offices.
